NRA Schedules Women's Hunts
NRA's Women on Target program has released its schedule of 2007 women's-only hunting excursions. For the first time, the schedule includes three African safaris as well as hunts for elk, bison, deer, antelope, and other game.
Women on Target, designed for women of all backgrounds and experience levels, has proven to be a popular way for women to get involved in hunting and to experience hunting trips with others of their gender. Many past WOT hunts have included women who are experienced hunters as well as those who are just getting started.
"With such a wide variety of species, locations, and costs this year, the Women on Target program is making it easier than ever for women to start hunting," said NRA Women's Programs Manager Rosemary Herr. "We emphasize a friendly, supportive atmosphere on all our hunts that we know women enjoy."
The African safaris include plains game with Scott of Africa, East London, South Africa, March 29-April 8; plains game with Grant Adventures International, South Africa, May 16-27; and plains game with the T. Jeffrey Safari Company in Somerset East, South Africa, August 12-23.
In addition, the program offers a September trophy elk hunt in Nebraska with Dismal River Outfitters, an antelope hunt with Wyoming Professional Outfitters in Wyoming, and a trophy bison hunt with Dismal River Outfitters in November. Other hunts are scheduled throughout the year, focusing on wild boar, turkey, pheasant, elk, white-tailed deer, and waterfowl.
Low hunter-to-guide ratios, great locations, outfitters who are interested and supportive of making more hunting opportunities available to women, and competitive prices ensure that these hunts sell out quickly every year. For more details, visit Women on Target. |
